THE 2010 MARK TWAIN AWARDS COMPETITION WINNERS
These are the results of the Associated Press Television-Radio Association' s 2010 Mark Twain Awards competition for California, Nevada, Hawaii, Arizona, New Mexico, Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska.
Judging took place Feb. 20 at The Associated Press bureau in Los Angeles with a panel of leading broadcast journalists that considered hundreds of entries from the 2009 calendar year.
In some categories there are no winners or nominees.
All awards were handed out June 12, 2010, during the annual APTRA Convention banquet at Disneyland's Paradise Pier Hotel in Anaheim, Calif.
"This weekend, APTRA we had the pleasure of viewing and judging more than 270 entries for the Mark Twain Award competition. In this day of severe newsroom budget cuts, the judges saw some fantastic work in all sized markets," Becker says.
"I was also delighted to see entries from some of our newest member states, Washington and Alaska. Thanks to the judges for a long day of work and to all those who participated. We look forward to presenting a Mark Twain to all the winners at the Disneyland convention in June."
